At the gathering, participants carried banners, boards, and leaflets exposing the Sujiatun concentration camp, where the Chinese communist regime is secretly extracting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners. The spectators were shocked by the brutality of the persecution and their indignation was aroused. City residents who understood the brutality of the persecution rushed to sign petitions supporting the relay hunger strike and denouncing the CCP's brutal persecution on human rights.

After exposing the selling of Falun Gong practitioner's organs and the burning of their corpses to destroy evidence at the Sujiatun Concentration Camp, great shock arose from the public. Some spectators let out sounds of fright after seeing the pictures of Falun Gong practitioners persecuted to death. Some could not stand to see more. Some people, who were in shock, asked, "Why?"

When the spectators fully understood the CCP has been using every possible means to persecute Falun Gong practitioners, many of them expressed their wishes to help rescue the lives of Falun Gong practitioners.

South Korean Falun Gong practitioners have begun another campaign of gathering petitions to rescue Falun Gong practitioners. This campaign was motivated by the South Korean citizens' successful campaign to rescue a Falun Gong practitioner, Gao Chengnu.

Ms. Gao Chengnu, the wife of a Korean citizen, was illegally detained and persecuted for refusing to renounce her practice of Falun Gong. This detainment shocked the Korean government and the public. In August 2004, Korean Falun Gong practitioners established a "Ms. Gao Chengnu Rescue Committee" and appealed to all the citizens of Korea to join together in rescuing Ms. Gao. In three months, more than 230,000 kind-hearted Korean citizens signed a petition supporting this effort, including congressional representatives, local parliaments, governmental groups and many other organizations. On the afternoon of May 13, 2005, Ms. Gao Chengnu was successfully rescued and brought back to Korea.
