On the morning of March 13 all desktop monitors and computer server were stolen from Taiwan Central Region Epoch Times office. All files and data were lost and the value of the hardware devices stolen is estimated at about NT$ 20, 000 (US$6,159). The police investigating the incident decided to strengthen patrols in all cities to ensure the security of Epoch Times offices across Taiwan.

Staff at the Epoch Times Taichung office entered the building at 8:10 a.m. on March 13 and found that seven desktop computers and LCD screens on the first and second floor were missing. Once notified of the break-in, police from the third substation of the Taichung City Police Station were sent to investigate, but no suspicious fingerprints were found. The police said that according to their preliminary investigation, the thieves left from a door on the first floor.

The Central Taiwan Epoch Times office is located within a commercial and residential district. On a normal day it is very peaceful and quiet. Residents said that in the past, only the theft of motorcycles and bicycles had occurred in the neighborhood.

The Epoch Times staff stated that the windows, doors and other equipment in the office were not damaged and no other valuables were touched. The sole target appeared to be the computers and the information contained therein. The careful targeting and the lack of fingerprints indicate that the perpetrators had meticulously planned their burglary. The crime appeared to be the work of professionals, not amateurs.

Given the CCP's recent attacks on Epoch Times offices and staff in the US, France, Hong Kong and Japan, the police do not consider this to be a simple case of burglary. The police plan to reinforce patrols around the Epoch Times offices and also suggested the installation of a security monitoring system.

The president of the Central Taiwan Epoch Times office, Zhu Jiaqi concluded that this was not a simple burglary case. The publication of the Nine Commentaries by The Epoch Times has led 8.8 million Chinese people to withdraw from the CCP. The Epoch Times offices in various locations around the world have been attacked within the last month, with the theft or destruction of equipment and even the beating of staff members. Whether or not the CCP is involved in this attack, it has already affected freedom of speech in Taiwan as well as personal and property security. She urged the police and national security offices to focus on the investigation.

Attacks Directed Against the Nine Commentaries and CCP Resignations

This is the latest malicious instance of CCP spies damaging and harassing The Epoch Times since the armed attack at the home of Dr. Li Yuan , the global IT director for The Epoch Times and the break-in at the Hong Kong Epoch Times office where the printing equipment was destroyed.

Epoch Times vice president Huang Wanqing pointed out that since February, seven incidents of attacks aimed at Epoch Times staffs and offices occurred one after another. He suggested that perhaps the CCP cannot endure the overwhelming pressure from the great wave of withdrawals from the CCP and has to resort to using special agents to deliberately sabotage international activities related to the Nine Commentaries and the CCP withdrawal campaign. He also said that the recent disclosure that Falun Gong practitioners' organs are harvested for sale at Sujiatun Concentration Camp , also exposed by The Epoch Times , has made the CCP even more nervous. He called on the whole world to note the CCP's spies' damaging behavior and provide the evidence of recent attacks to bring it to justice.

The vice-president of The Epoch Times , Huang Yuyan stated that The Epoch Times takes the responsibility of reporting the truth out of China. The newspaper has closely monitored the spreading of the Nine Commentaries and quitting the CCP. It has also been continuously reporting important issues like the CCP's persecution of human rights lawyers in China.

The Nine Commentaries , published by The Epoch Times in November 2004, has triggered and pushed forward the huge wave of the "three withdrawals" (resignations from the CCP, the Communist Youth League and the Communist Young Pioneers). Relatives of The Epoch Times staff in mainland China have recieved threats from the CCP's public security and national security organs. On February 8, when the "three withdrawals" approached eight million, the CCP's spies made a first armed attack on the Epoch Times global IT director, Dr. Li Yuan, and stole his computers.

On March 9, an undercover reporter who works for a privately operated Japanese news agency and the media group in the Chinese Embassy in Japan exposed to The Epoch Times the shocking inside story of the human organ trade of organs taken from Falun Gong practitioners imprisoned at the Sujiatun Concentration Camp. On March 10, the Japanese Epoch Times office in Osaka was burgled. The thieves stole the computers but left behind cash and other articles. After the police investigation, they determined that the suspects' goal was to steal information. The same reporter who just exposed the behind-the-scenes procedures at Sujiatun Concentration Camp also disclosed that the Japanese Epoch Times would be the next target of the CCP spies' rampage. This news was reported in The Epoch Times on March 9.

The latest assaults in Japan and Taichung City have occurred as the total CCP withdrawals are approaching nine million. Epoch Times columnist Zhang Tianliang said that failure by the Chinese communist regime to suppress Falun Gong has caused them to act completely like an organized-crime syndicate. The current series of violent acts exposes the despair and craziness of the CCP as a gambler at its imminent demise—whose whole fortune is staked on one cast of the die.
