SALFORD, UK—Shen Yun Performing Arts performed for an enthusiastic audience at the Lowry Salford in Salford, UK on Feb. 22. Looking very happy, James Kershaw and Donna Daqaq thought it was splendid.

“It’s great! Great!” Mr. Kershaw said.

Ms. Daqaq echoed the praise: “It’s beautiful! Beautiful! The time went so fast. It was our first time watching something like this. We enjoyed every bit of it,” she said.

Ms. Daqaq, a social value communication manager, said how impressed she was with the 3D animated backdrop. “The use of the screen and [how] it operated with the dancers. It was just amazing. It was a magical experience,” she said.

Through classical Chinese dance and music, Shen Yun is sharing with the world the beauty of China’s authentic 5,000 years of history. Since its founding in 2006, the company has received worldwide accolades for its mission to revive traditional Chinese culture.

She felt a connection with the higher power expressed in the spiritual nature of traditional Chinese culture. She was happy to have “this chance to learn something about this great culture thousands of years ago.”

Mr. Kershaw, who runs a security business for CCTV, is already anticipating Shen Yun coming back. “It’s amazing. I can’t wait for next year for the next one.”

Ms. Daqaq had words of encouragement for the performers. “We enjoyed every bit. Keep up the great job, and we hope to see you all very soon.”

With shows scheduled in over 200 cities and across five continents, the 2024 touring season is shaping up to be the artists’ busiest yet.

Lay Minister Says Finale ‘Very Powerful’

Jim Cam, a lay minister in the Church of England, and Jim Berry, a retired printer, greatly enjoyed Shen Yun in Salford. Mr. Berry liked the colorful costumes and artistry of the dances. “Beautiful costumes, and also such different artistic dances.” He said Shen Yun was offering something not available in the modern world. “Atheism and everything does not have the answers.”
Mr. Cam especially liked the spirituality expressed in the last song. “As a Christian, I would actually identify with that within Jesus Christ. That same hope,” he said. In the finale, when the Creator came to save people from a tsunami, Mr. Cam said, “This is very powerful.”

He could see the parallels in the message of compassion. ”Even in the face of the brutality, to actually give back love instead. I can see parallels with the hope that we would have.”

Mr. Cam appreciated the artistry of the musicianship, especially with the erhu, being closes to the human voice. “That absolutely marvelous.”

He expressed his gratitude to the performers. “I think I can say thank you so much for sharing your your skill in dance and music. It was so beautiful. Please keep going. Keep going. Yes.”

Mr. Berry felt the same way. “Very much so. I think it’s been very entertaining, very enjoyable, and it’s really good to see all the culture that’s in it as well, and the enthusiasm of the people taking part. Yeah, it was very, very good. Thank you.”
