DHAKA—At least 21 people were killed and nearly 40 injured when two buses collided on a Bangladesh highway on Monday, police said.

The accident, apparently caused by reckless driving, occurred on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Iliotganj near Comilla district town, 100 km (62 miles) southeast of the capital Dhaka, police said.

One of the buses ended up in a water-filled ditch after the impact.
