FLUSHING, New York City—Reporters recently conducted random interviews with a number of Flushing residents. They were asked about the "Flushing incident" in which Falun Gong practitioners were attacked by mobs of CCP (Chinese Communist Party) henchmen since May. Increasingly more people are now discovering the incident was the result of false remarks about Falun Gong made by the CCP. Some elderly women dare not leave their homes due to fear of being beaten by CCP henchmen. They condemned the cruelty toward the Falun Gong practitioners, saying that everyone should have freedom of faith and those thugs must be subjected to legal sanctions.
An 80-year-old woman who immigrated to the United States 60 years ago from China's Guangdong Province said that she reads The Epoch Times, watches NTDTV programs and listens to the radio everyday. Previously, she had always lived at ease.
She said that she is not a member of the CCP, and even now she is still afraid of the Party. During the incidents in Flushing, she was also afraid of being attacked by the CCP goons and didn't dare to go out in public. She said that in any case, assault and battery are not welcomed and just isn't right.
Mr. Yang, who was born in China's Zhejiang Province, emigrated from Taiwan 30 years ago. He believes that the incident was arranged by the CCP. "Why beat people? Those aren't reasonable actions. If one has nothing else better to do, then why not try to find a job?" he said.
Yang said that it was the CCP who made slanderous remarks against Falun Gong. The evil party has been making full use of human weaknesses to achieve its political objectives. "People have the freedom to believe what they want!" he said.
An immigrant named Miss Bishop from Taiwan said that in her view, violence can't be used in any case. The perpetrators must be subjected to the law.
Mr. Zhang, a recent graduate from a U.S. medical college, said that for those who commit crimes, laws exist to punish them. "This is the United States and everyone has the freedom to choose their own beliefs. The right to freedom of faith should not be allowed to be infringed upon," he said.
