New York 'Vogue' Model's Death Believed to be Suicide

NEW YORK—In an apparent suicide, European Vogue cover model, Ruslana Korshunova, 20, fell from her Manhattan apartment building on Saturday at 2:30 p.m., causing her death on Walter Street.

Korshunova's New York agency and a spokeswoman for medical examiners did not return the telephone messages immediately. The police said the fall is still under investigation.

Just three years ago, British Vogue acknowledged her as "a face to be excited about" in 2005. She'd appeared in advertisements and runways for designers DKNY, Nina Ricci, and Marc Jacobs.

Debbie Jones, a modeling booker, scouted Korshunova while reading a magazine about Almaty, Korshunova's hometown. "She looked like something out of a fairytale," Jones told the magazine. "We had to find her and we searched high and low until we did."
