FLUSHING, New York—Two men were arrested in Flushing over the weekend for involvement in anti-Falun Gong activities.

Mr. Zhijie Sui, 23, was arrested Sunday in Flushing after elbowing police officers and blocking them from dispersing a crowd gathered around a woman distributing anti-Falun Gong materials. The materials slandered Falun Gong, a meditation practice, using fabricated information.

The incident took place on Main Street in Flushing around 3:30p.m. A crowd gathered around an unidentified person handing out flyers after a loud verbal exchange ensued.

When police moved to disperse the crowd, Sui blocked the police, shouting, "You can't touch me, you can't touch me!" The man then used his elbow to hit a police officer. He was arrested at the scene.

Man Arrested Saturday has History

Saturday's arrest was of Wei Qiu (whose legal name is Victor Yau). Qiu has been accused of assaulting John Yu, a Falun Gong practitioner, with a metal steering wheel lock in Brooklyn on June 15. Qiu was arrested in Queens while distributing anti-Falun Gong flyers written in Chinese. He was wearing a hardhat and a vest displaying slogans slandering Falun Gong. He had been seen wearing the same outfit while distributing flyers several times in the past month in Flushing and in Manhattan's Chinatown area.

"The District Attorney and the legal system will, by looking in and investigating this issue, see the big picture," Yu said. "This is not an isolated crime. This has a lot to do with the Chinese government and the Chinese Consulate."

Yu is referring to recent information from the non-profit World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG), which possesses a recording of the Chinese Consul General of New York, Mr. Keyu Peng, who is heard boasting that he secretly encouraged some of the attacks.

Both incidents are related to mob attacks that were initiated by pro-Chinese Communist Party (CCP) groups in Flushing on May 17 and have continued since. The attacks began after CCP-controlled media broadcasted false reports into China and Chinese communities that Falun Gong practitioners had been stopping funds from reaching the victims of the Sichuan earthquake.

Since then, numerous threats, verbal and physical attacks have been directed at Falun Gong practitioners, volunteers at the Service Center for Quitting the CCP on Flushing's Main Street, and staff members of The Epoch Times.

The weekend arrests bring the total number of arrests of people involved in anti-Falun Gong activities since May 17 to 12 people.
