Last September, a couple of Israeli army planes bombed a mysterious structure in Syria. Later it was officially confirmed that it was a Syrian nuclear reactor, built with assistance from North Korea. NTD Israel reporters interviewed two senior experts, who say that the Chinese regime also has a connection.
Dr. Ronen Bergman, a journalist and the author of the coming book The Secret War With Iran, said: "I would say that in spite of the fact that the reactor that was bombed in Dir A-Zur, in Al Kibar, in Syria was North Korean reactor the basis of the Syrian nuclear knowledge are Chinese and China through out the years was helping research and supplying some know-how to the Syrians."
Head of the Institute for Science and International Security in Washington, D.C, David Albright, adds that if not for poor export control in China, North Korea wouldn't be able to supply nuclear materials to Syria.
"The Chinese government has poorly implemented export control", he said, "so companies can come in or operate in China... It's relatively easy for companies like NCG to operate in China and acquire items for other countries secret nuclear programs."
An Israeli expert interviewed by NTD who wishes to stay anonymous says that the facts about Chinese involvement in Syria's nuclear program are well known by almost every senior official in Israel, but they seem to shy away from publicly criticizing of the Chinese regime.
