In response to the Chinese Communist regime's attempt to extend its persecution overseas, Falun Gong practitioners recently held intensive activities in Flushing, New York City, including a march. The march on Saturday, June 14, seems to have tipped the scale toward the Falun Gong practitioners.

Organized and well-planned attacks by mobs started on May 17—five days after the devastating earthquake in Sichuan, China. Several hundred Chinese thugs besieged, insulted, and physically assaulted several Falun Gong practitioners who work as volunteers at the Global Quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Center in front of the Queens Library in Flushing.

The CCP's media mouthpieces falsely reported the incidents as overseas Chinese opposing Falun Gong practitioners alleged to be disturbing donation activities for earthquake relief.

It was revealed five days later in a recorded phone conversation that Chinese Consulate Peng Keyu was responsible for organizing the attacks and Zhou Yongkang, the head of the regime's spy system, was the mastermind behind the attacks. Their intent was to attempt to shift Chinese people's focus away from the question of whether the regime had received earthquake warnings but had failed to warn the general public.

The CCP has never denied the authenticity of the recorded phone conversation, and neither did it stop its mafia-style harassment of Falun Gong practitioners in Flushing.

Four weeks after the first attack, it appears that activities held by Falun Gong practitioners in Flushing to counter the CCP's attack and propaganda are working to reverse the situation. Local residents are changing their attitudes. Police have also allocated the manpower to protect Falun Gong practitioners in carrying out their activities as usual.

On Saturday, only a few troublemakers showed up. The surrounding crowds did not respond to their incitement, and the police easily kept them in order. With cameras trained on them, they tried to hide their faces. An Epoch Times reporter overheard one of them complain, "Why are there so few people? We were told a lot would come."

Li Ming (an assumed name, for safety), a computer engineer, said the organizer of the communist thugs had told him that 2,000 people would be present to oppose the Falun Gong march. "Today's march is proof those were just mobs. Nobody buys them anymore," said Li.

Chinese Ph.D. student Wang Lu (alias) said he once belonged to the group opposing Falun Gong and had supported the thugs, but his experience over the last few weeks had changed him. "It is good to experience on the spot, to see who is scolding people, who are the kind ones. You can make your own judgment." Wang believed the Flushing incident is a "milestone for Chinese people's awakening."

Mr. Gao Liang, who withheld his real name for safety, praised the Falun Gong march: "Falun Gong is the only group who dares to [oppose] the CCP." Introducing himself as former government employee dealing with foreign trade, Gao said the march also gave him personal experience about democracy. "Here, the police protect you if you are a lawful citizen."

Liu Jun (an alias for personal safety) said he graduated from a renowned mainland university and now works in the United States. Liu accepted the Epoch Times interview in response to the provocation and threat from the pro-communist thugs around him.

When one of the thugs demanded to know if he was a Falun Gong practitioner, Liu answered, "I am not, but I know this group has a lot of scholars, many Ph.D.s in the fields of biology, economics, astrophysics, electric engineering, and the like."

"And I also know people from those pro-communist groups; many of them don't even have basic knowledge. They have no understandings about this universe, about this world, and do not even talk about the developing trends of mankind."
