FLUSHING, New York City—It was a sunny and hot weekend June 7-8, the temperature on Sunday reached 97º F, but Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Mao Fengying still drove ten hours to distribute the Chinese-language Epoch Times newspaper in Flushing as usual.
Mao, a Toronto resident, specially made arrangements to drive ten hours to Flushing, New York, to participate in Falun Gong truth clarification activities and helps distribute Dajiyuan (Chinese-language edition of The Epoch Times).
Helped 22 People Quit the CCP
An Epoch Times reporter met Mao on Sunday while she was standing on Main Street. Mao said that 22 people took her advice and quit the CCP during the last two days.
"On Saturday, I met several people who said, 'We used to be sympathetic to Falun Gong, but because you celebrated the Sichuan earthquake disaster, we no long are sympathetic.'"
She replied to them, "Our activity [parade] was to support those who bravely quit the CCP. In this major disaster in China, the CCP was the murderer, because they caused numerous unnecessary casualties by blocking the earthquake prediction. And you don't hate the CCP, but hate us? Does this make sense?"
One man replied Mao, "Why does Falun Gong display banners 'Heaven Will Extinguish China,' and why do you say that the Sichuan earthquake is a retribution."
Mao replied, "This was a rumor spread by the Chinese Consulate to fool you and frame Falun Gong. Their purpose was to divert you attention from their concealing the earthquake prediction that caused numerous additional casualties. You can distinguish right and wrong. Chinese people are valuable."
"We are here in such hot weather for what? We are here for you! Because you are fooled by the CCP's lies, the CCP is harming you. If you were able to recognize the CCP's lies and not be deceived, we would not be here."
Mao said that he understood the truth, as a member of CCP, he agreed to quit.
Young Man Arrested Earlier in Flushing Quits the Communist Youth League
On Sunday, a young man approached Mao and said he did not understand why Falun Gong interfered with relief fundraising work for the Sichuan earthquake. He said, "I was passing by that day, and I did not really know what was happening. But when I heard that Falun Gong interfered with the relief fundraising efforts for the Sichuan earthquake, I rushed over and shouted in anger, so I was arrested."
Mao replied, "This was instigated by the Chinese consulate. I told him how the CCP had cruelly harmed people in the past as well as during the earthquake. Natural disasters are inevitable, but man-made disasters can be avoided. Why didn't the CCP announce the earthquake prediction by the experts? Wouldn't many people have been saved if they had been evacuated in time? The collapsed buildings are an economic loss, but the loss of lives is forever. Especially those parents, how could they live with the loss of their only child?"
Why Did You Believe the CCP so Readily?
This young man said, "I hope we all love China." Mao agreed and said, "We all love China, but what do we love about China? We love the Chinese land, Chinese people, and Chinese culture. However, when the CCP slaughtered innocent Chinese people, did you stand up to say anything? When the CCP destroyed traditional Chinese culture, did you object?
Now the CCP wants you to hate Falun Gong, while Falun Gong is truly for the good of China. Why did you believe the CCP so readily?"
Mao told the reporter that the young man understood after she explained this and said, "We all love China. I agreed with him and asked him to quit CCP. He agreed and renounced the Communist Youth League. I took an alias for him so he could quit without retribution from the CCP and wished him a peaceful life overseas."
