EDMONTON—Arts student Erik Hamilton really enjoyed Tuesday evening’s performance of Divine Performing Arts’ Chinese Spectacular at Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium.
“I liked it a lot; lots of energy, exciting and entertaining to watch,” he said, adding that he enjoyed the drumming pieces and The Risen Lotus Flower the most.
Hamilton, who attended Victoria Performing and Visual Arts School, an arts focused K-12 school, used to participate in choir, singing, improve and drama class. He said he had an appreciation for Spectacular’s unique Orchestra, which combines Western and Chinese instruments.
“The orchestra was really good. It’s a good blend of Chinese instruments and western instruments.”
He also liked the Chinese Erhu, a two stringed violin-like instrument.
“That was a good performance, the Erhu. It was really good. I liked the tone of the instrument and it was a very good performance.
“It was a very special, spiritual performance. I learned a lot about the culture, the dance and the music. I learned a lot. It was very good.”
Hamilton also said that he would be interested in seeing the show again.
