EDMONTON—Alberta Blue Cross worker, Laurie Karen, was deeply impressed by her viewing of the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular Tuesday evening, especially the show's message and the current state of Mainland China.

"It was almost like an insight into Chinese culture, into the oppression inside the country itself. Just very educational in a performing arts sort of way; it's very expressive," she said.

"I thought it was very insightful. What I took from it was almost very religious and very oriented towards the people and how they feel about their country."

"They respect their own culture, they believe in their own culture, and themselves. But I don't know… I got the feeling that there was a lot of oppression there with regards to that."

Karen also commented on the shows artistry and emotion. "Very well presented, very well put forward. A lot of sadness; I felt that a lot of the pieces the solo artists sang were quite sad in a lot of ways but they were presented in such a beautiful way."

Karen also commented that her favorite piece was 'Nymphs of the Sea'. "Just the colors and the fans. I love fan dancing. It's very, very pretty," she said.
