Edmonton Theatre-goers Heap Praise on ‘Chinese Spectacular’

EDMONTON—“I really enjoyed the whole thing, I really did,” said maintenance manager Mark Hewitt after seeing Tuesday evening’s performance of the Chinese Spectacular at Edmonton’s Jubilee Auditorium.

“There was so much color. It was kind of hard to focus on one area of the show because there was so much going on.”

“It was a beautiful show, I really enjoyed it. I thought it was just a fantastic show.”

Investor Gerrit Atnbricks was also highly impressed with the show.

“We really enjoyed it; very, very good show,” he said. “Beautiful, the costumes were unbelievable; very, very nice.”

Ismael Flores described the show as “beautiful,” and said that he would definitely come to see it again.

“It was beautiful, lots of history and culture; just beautiful.”

Gary Bailey, a retired administrative worker especially enjoyed the drumming acts, Victory Drums and Drummers of the Tang Court.

“It was wonderful, absolutely wonderful,” he said. “The costumes were terrific and I loved the drums. Absolutely loved the drums; they were great, and I thought the dancing was just superb.”

“The singers were great; they had voices that [were] just unreal, terrific.”

The New York-based Divine Performing Arts is winding up the Canadian leg of its international with three shows Edmonton from May 5-7.

In its 2008 tour, the Divine Performing Arts staged 220 shows in over 14 countries on four continents, reaching a total live audience of about 650,000.
