EDMONTON—The Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular impressed scientist Irene Cheng when she attended the show on Tuesday at Edmonton's Jubilee Auditorium.

"Actually I'm quite amazed with the art and size. This is a good representation. For example the background scenery is quite amazing."

Cheng especially enjoyed the piece, Lady of the Moon.

"It's very nice. I like the woman going to the moon and the Buddhas and the sky. [There was] a lot of movement. It integrated very well with the front stage performance," she said.

Cheng, who specializes in computer science and digital media and imaging, came to Canada from Hong Kong 18 years ago.

"I feel at home. It's very nice to see such a performance in Canada," she said, adding that the three words that best describe the show are "Heritage, integration and color."

The New York-based Divine Performing Arts is winding up the Canadian leg of its international with three shows Edmonton from May 5-7.

In its 2008 tour, the Divine Performing Arts staged 220 shows in over 14 countries on four continents, reaching a total live audience of about 650,000.
