EDMONTON—Syliva Lomanski thoroughly enjoyed the Chinese Spectacular which premiered at Edmonton's Jubilee Auditorium on Monday evening.
"They're just so talented, the dancers, the singers, the musicians," said Lomanski, who works at an accounting firm in Edmonton. She heard about the show from her co-workers.
Lomanski said she had seen the Spectacular before, once at the prestigious Radio City Music Hall in New York, and again last year in Edmonton.
Of this year's show she said that among the pieces that impressed her the most were the tenor solo by Guan Guimin, the Mongolian Bowl Dance and the erhu number by Qi Xiaochun.
"I loved the costumes. The girl who played the erhu was one of my favourites. The Tenor was amazing, and [so were] the cup dancers, I liked those."
The erhu is a two-stringed instrument, admired for its wide range of notes and mellow, haunting sound.
Lomanski concluded by saying, "the dancers were impressive, the music was impressive, it's all pretty impressive. It's a great production. It's a very well planned, cohesive production."
