CALGARY—Completing its final run of shows across North America for 2008, the Divine Performing Arts presented the Chinese Spectacular at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium Friday night to a full house.

The beauty and the depth of Chinese Classical dance and traditional culture touched many including two women who shared their opinion with the Epoch Times after the show.

Marcy traveled from Vancouver to visit her friend Sophia in Calgary where they took in the show together.

"It was wonderful. We expected undoubtedly a very fine show and it certainly was a great presentation," said Sophia.

"It was stupendous, very beautiful, the costuming, the dancing, and the entire performance was remarkable."

Marcy shared her friend's opinion. "I've never seen anything like it, it was really wonderful."

Marcy said that she found The Risen Lotus Flower and The Power of Awareness, the two pieces that depict abuses against the Falun Gong spiritual discipline in China, "very interesting."

"One of the most exciting and most valuable aspects of the program represent the fact that, particularly the vocalists who all speak about virtues, they spoke about the divine, and this is truly, absolutely a marvelous thing for this world to recognize," she said.

Traditional Chinese culture has always valued virtues and morals above personal gain and emotions. This is borne out in "The Loyalty of Yue Fei," in which Yue Fei's elderly mother urges him to fight for his homeland rather than stay home to look after her.

She tatoos "Serve your country loyally" on his back to instill that virtue deeply. The two sacrifice their time together to help save the land from invaders.

"I just hope that there are more people who begin to recognize [virtue's] value and begin to live with those merits," Sophia said. "It's just a hope that we should all have."
