BRISBANE, Australia—Monday April 7, 2008 marked the day the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular opened in the Great Hall of the Brisbane Convention Centre on its 65-city world tour. Among the audience were Nivannii Nivannii and friend Shivanii Cameron, who travelled over an hour to see the show.
When asked how they had learned of the Chinese Spectacular, Mrs Nivannii said: "My boss actually shouted us [laughs]. I saw the poster up at Maleny and then my boss came a couple of weeks ago and said he was going to shout us and our families to come here."
The 'Mongolian Bowl Dance' and "the female singer" (soprano Pi-ju Huang) were Mrs Cameron's favourite performances while Mrs Nivannii liked the 'Water Sleeves' dance.
Although Mrs Nivannii admitted she didn't know much about Chinese culture previously. In telling a friend about the show, Mrs Cameron would tell them: "It's beautiful; it's an elegant portrayal of Chinese culture. It's lovely; the movements of the people are very harmonious and peaceful, it's lovely." Mrs Nivannii added that the show is "worthwhile, interesting, spectacular!"
