BRISBANE, Australia—"The Spectacular is bringing to us in the 21st century a living culture that dates back 5000 years'" said Federal MP Bruce Scott.
Mr Scott attended the premier of the Chinese Spectacular at the Brisbane Convention Centre.
"There's such a spectacular display of colour, gentleness and skill that I was not aware of."
Mr Scott said he loved the performing arts and was in awe of Chinese culture and the dance and music traditions he had witnessed.
"Here we have a form of ballet that goes back 5000 years and it is an art.
You might say modern ballet has come from the dance traditions of the culture of the Chinese," he said.
"I'll tell you, the drummers were very good — 'The Mongolian Bowl Dance'. And the Soprano reaching such a high beat — so tremendous, so beautiful."
Mr Scott is the member for Maranoa, an area some 600km west of Brisbane. There are a number of Chinese schools in his electorate, he said.
"We live in such a wonderful world today. [Look at] the history of such an ancient civilisation, more than 5000 years."
"As I think about the Spectacular, Chinese culture…I think they should learn more about it because education is knowledge and knowledge is understanding."
Mr Scott said he would tell people to come and see they show even if it meant driving the 600km as he had done to see it.
"If they ever get another opportunity to see the Spectacular, they must make time, as I have travelled 600km to be here from western Queensland.
