SYDNEY, Australia—Community radio personality, Trevor Langlands was just one of many audience members who could not contain their enthusiasm during the Chinese Spectacular's April 4 performance.
Mr Langlands, who has been in radio for most of his life, described the performance so far as: "Wonderful! The costumes, the backdrops, the effects, the dancing and...everything!"
He had heard about the show from some friends and by intermission Mr Langlands had already made up his mind what he enjoyed most.
"I think the beginning is wonderful," he said, referring to the opening scene entitled 'Descent of the Celestial Kings'. He also enjoyed 'Nymphs of the Sea' and 'Lady of the Moon', stating: "...the waterfall, the water coming down, I think that was wonderful and the moon...going to the moon...I think it was wonderful too."
Mr Langlands found the singers to be very impressive and said that the words displayed on the 3D backdrop carried a deep meaning.
"Oh, the singers are beautiful. I loved the soprano [Piju Huang], and the gentleman [Hong Ming, tenor] as well. The lady soprano has the most beautiful voice. And I love it very much. And the words to the songs in the background- excellent! And very good words, very meaningful words," he said.
Although Mr Langlands could not recall any of the lyrics, he was left with a message of peace, harmony and beauty.
When asked what he would remember most, Mr Langlands referred to 'The Risen Lotus Flower', which depicts the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in a Chinese prison. "...the dancing, the drummers...I love the drummers I think, they are just terrific!"
When asked if he was impressed by the show so far, Mr Langlands replied: "Yes! Yes! Yes! Very much! I can't wait for the second half!"
