VANCOUVER—"The colors were amazing, sparkling and beautiful, and the background scenery is just spectacular — it is spectacular," said Faith Reinheller, of the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular after seeing the show Friday night at the Bell Performing Arts Center in Surrey, British Columbia.
"What I really was intrigued [by] was the foot-work of the dancers — it is so different than Canadian dancers," said Faith, who came to watch the show with her husband, Sheldon.
A piano player who has been teaching piano for 20 years, Faith also enjoyed the Chinese music that accompanied the performances, and said that she felt each music piece tells a story in itself.
"It kind of really tells a story, almost every piece feels like it's telling a story," said Faith. I'm just glad to be here and enjoy some culture that I haven't seen before.
Faith's husband, Sheldon, also found the show interesting and enjoyed the synchronization and choreography in the dances.
"I really enjoy the precision of everything, how the dancers don't even look at each other, and they're all precise, it's quite incredible."
Sheldon also appreciated getting to know Chinese culture without traveling to China.
"I like to go to China, and right now I can't, so this is as close as I'm getting," said Sheldon.
