The Divine Performing Arts company sent shockwaves through the Sydney Entertainment Centre on Wednesday on the opening night. The following are just some of the comments that the local cultural establishment had to say about the Chinese Spectacular , April 3, 2008.
Travor Dietz — Managing Director, BarterCard

"I've seen shows before, but this is the best show I've ever seen. I just believed that it has reached possibly the highest level that any show could possibly reach. I have been very, very impressed. I must say the last one, the drumming, was spectacular. 'Lady of the Moon' was another very impressive one.
The message I've received was about how people celebrate their rich culture and what really goes on in China - I believe it's a great testament to the whole committee and all the organisers to be able to come here and put on such a magnificent show, to show all the people of Australia what China is all about."
Marienne Shepherd - Soprano
"It's wonderful. The choreography and the colour are just beautiful; the spontaneity is just lovely.
I really enjoyed the Mongolian tea bowls dance. And the lotus one was very, very moving. The soprano was beautiful. Love the soprano! Yes, because I myself am a soprano."
Kamahl - Singer

"I think the show is fantastic. I think the dancing is brilliant, the drumming is good. But the costumes and the backdrop - how they do it, I have never seen it done like that before. All of the backdrop and scenery is thoroughly fantastic, thoroughly enjoyable. The dancing and singing, and the comperes – they both are very good, excellent.
It's the best way to enjoy your time. It's wonderful. Also the message of Falun Gong is a very important message and a good message."
Barry Newman - Independent TV Producer

"To start with, it is just so beautifully staged - the costuming, the presentation, the style of it and the message in it - it's just wonderful. I thought the last scene, the drumming, had quite an impact because it's very visual and the sound of it is great. It's really uplifting."
Bruce Mcdonald - Vice-President, Customer Service Division, Ford Motor Company
"It's a little different from last year's - seems to go at a different pace, which is very involving. I got a fantastic seat, right down the front. It's wonderful to see the dancers' expressions.
"There is a huge variety in Chinese culture, from men's drumming to different areas. 'The Nymphs of the Sea', I just imagine it would reflect on another part of China, the coastline...certainly very much in sympathy with the dancing of the fans and the silk materials. I thought it was very well done. Oh, it's beautiful, very spectacular!"
Christian Bishoff - Singer, Performer
"It's excellent. The show is uniting the best experience with all the enthusiasm. Since 2004, when I was in the inaugural show in New York City, which I am very proud of, it has just got better and better and better. I love the drummers and the bass baritone singer - everything, really. There is a lot of work that goes into a live performance -they've done it with absolute precision. Congratulations to everyone."
Katy Manning — Dancer

"It's the first time I've seen this show, but I've seen Chinese shows before. This is so beautiful - the art of Chinese dance, the colour - its magnificent and I love it. I get so excited when the girls all walk in those tiny little steps. I am a dancer from so many years. And it's just absolutely exquisite. And the drummers were rather good too.
Visually, it's so clever now—with the big screens and everything—that's made a huge difference. I love Chinese music.
I love the opening performance, and those horses just flew down with the wings… it's a moment of Monkey Magic there for me, you know. It's just beautiful. What a wonderful culture and great storytellers… it's making me feel very peaceful."
