AUCKLAND, New Zealand—The final perfomance of the Chinese Spectacular in Auckland moved Malaysian-born Sueelee Mararoa to tears.
"I did cry for a little bit," she said.
When asked why, she replied that the 'Legend of Yue Fei' had made her feel a bit emotional.
"Because the "Jin Zhong Bao Guo" [protect the country loyally]...the mum had to ask the son...had to go to protect the country or to stay, so I thought of my mum," she said.
She said some of the singers and the erhu performance also made her feel a bit emotional.
"Those songs that they sang–I did quite enjoy those men and ladies ... the soprano ... and the erhu – all of them," she said.
She said she did not know much about China's history before seeing the show but she enjoyed seeing – 5,000 years of history at the Spectacular .
"I think they performed very well. I hope they come again, so the young people can learn about...like tolerance, the beauty and the goodness," she said.
Mrs Mararoa lives in Auckland and is a housewife.
"I was born in Malaysia, so of course I enjoyed this Chinese [cultural performance]," she said.
