AUCKLAND, New Zealand—The audience gave a resounding standing ovation for the first Chinese Spectacular show at the ASB Theatre on Thursday night.
A classical dancer from India, Madurai R Murali Duran, was at the show with one of his students. They will perform in Auckland later this month. "The show is spectacular, wonderful. Actually we have learnt so many things from the production. It is so good," he said.
He said he "definitely" learnt about Chinese culture.
"The perfection and the choreographing and coordination, everything is so good. Especially the formations and also the finishings. It's wonderful."
He said he was impressed by the dedication of the people involved with the show, to present the traditional culture. "The dedication is very good."
"I cannot compare with Indian classical dance and the Chinese, it is so different," he said. Adding that his favourite programme was the drums.
His student B'haratha Natyam said: "It was a great, great show. And it was new for me because I have never seen any cultural things, so it was really new … everything, costumes, dance, everything."
