ADELAIDE, Australia—Grandpa Kwan took his grandchildren to see the matinee session of the Spectacular, at the Adelaide Festival Centre Theatre on April 15, because they had asked. He was glad that he had honoured their request.

"The children were interested," he said, "It's pretty good, very nice, very colourful."

Grandpa Kwan said he had come from Malaysia to Australia 30 years ago, but his family were originally from China.

He had not seen a show like the Spectacular before, he shared. But he had enjoyed it, particularly the moral tales.

"The one about Yue Fei ['The Loyalty of Yue Fei'] was good.

That's what I've got to explain to the children," he said. "Generally it's good. Very colourful, very exciting," he said of the whole show.

Something Special

Peter Demara, was also happy with his decision to attend the matinee show.

A hotel concierge, Mr Demara decided to treat himself to something special when he bought a ticket to the show. "I thought I'd like to go for once in a life[time], go to see something special.

"I saw the pamphlet and thought it looked very beautiful, very divine, and I just thought, hey, I might just see it."

Mr Demara said he was interested in Chinese culture but had not paid much attention to its myths and legends before. The Spectacular however, had encouraged him to look at them more seriously.

"I never really pay much attention to it, but it's interesting to hear about the myths, folklores and legends."

He said he would recommend the show to people, particularly those that knew little about Chinese culture.
