VIENNA—The Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular show made its Vienna debut at the Stadthalle Wien on Monday, delighting the audience with its authentic portrayal of Chinese culture.

"I enjoyed the show very much because it had so much originality. I could feel that the pictures in the background were selected with much love and care, and I appreciated this very much. I also enjoyed the references to China's past and communism …." said Dr. Liana Massens.

Her companion Germaine Lors, who works for the United Nations office at Vienna, was equally impressed.

"It's amazing, I enjoyed the show a lot. I could see that a lot of work went into it. It was fantastic, very successful. A lot of work went into it, but so enjoyable. I liked it very, very much."

Lors was impressed by the attention to detail that was obvious in the performances.

"Every subject was given meticulous attention and connected with the five elements, water, fire …this is so well treated, fantastic. Really, the work was perfection."

Dr. Massens commented on the costumes, which are all originally designed and handmade.

"The colour used in the costumes is something which is out of this world. I was born in Paris and my friend Germaine is French, and therefore we enjoyed it doubly, I don't know if the rest of the audience members see the difference, but it was a beautiful show."

Dr. Massens said that she learned of the Spectacular through a French friend who works at the United Nations. "He told us about the show…that's how we found out about it." After Bratislava, the Spectacular's next stop will be in Prague. A total of 35 shows will be seen in 14 European countries.
