New York—Mark and Pia Robinson say the Chinese New Year Splendor brings an awareness to the audience about the plight of people living in mainland China.

"They're conveying something that's happening over there [in China] and they seem to just want to bring enlightenment here of the plight of people over there," Mark said.

He said it was a good show.

"What really impresses you is how precise they are, I mean precise. When they move, everybody moves as one and they make their moves sharp. Really good," he said.

He said he used to practice karate, but he has never seen a "kata" done as well as the performers dance.

"I liked the drums," he said.

He said he also enjoyed the contemporary performances.

"The one with the little girl and her mom getting beaten up—'Awareness' ['The Power of Awareness']. It wasn't just about awareness, it was about power and unity, but it didn't have to be violent.

"If everybody takes into themselves what's right and what's wrong, you can stop the madness," he said.

Pia said the show was "very spiritual." "What it is ... they are bringing awareness about the Falun Gong—they're bringing awareness here," she said.

The Chinese New Year Splendor continues in New York through Saturday, Feb. 9. For other shows in the Divine Performing Arts world tour, please visit: http://www.DivinePerformingArts.org/ .
