NEW YORK—Cathy Marmol, who works in programming and acquisitions for MTV Networks, said she would definitely recommend seeing the Chinese New Year Splendor, currently playing at Radio City Music Hall.
"I thought the outfits were vibrant. The backgrounds were colorful, I loved the music, and I would definitely recommend this to anyone," she said.
She said she has always liked Chinese culture, the costumes, and the choreography.
"I definitely learned more about the values of Chinese culture. It's something that you don't really learn about when you're outside of the culture, even in New York. Everyone tends to become very Americanized here, so it's rare that you get an inside view."
She said it was her "first foray into the culture" and she really liked it.
"And I definitely got the message of compassion and all that. And I feel like I know a lot more than I did before I walked in here. So it was vivid, colorful, and educational at the same time, I definitely enjoyed it."
Gregg Furman owns The Luxury Marketing Council Company, which markets luxury products and services. The company is international, based in New York and 18 other cities worldwide.
"I love the show … the dance, the music, the color. Just about everything—the humor," he said.
He said everything about the show was "so unique."
"I would take home with me tonight, the poetry, the dancing, the music, the images. I would definitely come back to see this show again and I will tell my friends to come see it," he said.

Another member of the audience, Karen Fuchs, a photographer, said her favorite parts of the show were the water scenes, the Korean dance, the fan dance, and the drummers.
"I really enjoyed the show. The colors, I am a very visual person. I love dance as well," she said.
She said the orchestra was "really amazing."
"I really enjoyed it and to hear Chinese instruments as well," she said.
She said the backdrops "really spoke to me."
"If it was not for the background, it would not have the same impact. It gave me the sense of the Chinese landscape as well—gave the sense of tranquility and beauty which I really enjoyed," she said.
