Usher at Radio City Says Nothing Compares to 'Chinese Splendor'

By Hsinling Hsieh and Jeanmarie Lunsford
Feb 05, 2008

NEW YORK—Despite the winter evening's chill, the audience inside Radio City Music Hall quickly warmed to the gorgeous costumes and singular skills of the performers of the Chinese New Year Splendor .

Roger Bello, an usher at Radio City, looks forward to each and every performance and tries to watch as much of them as he can.

"It's wonderful" he said, "I saw the shows last year also, but as amazing as those were, I'd say that this year's performance has been taken to a whole new level."

"Which performance do I like the most? Wow, it's hard to choose. My favorites were "The Drummers of the Tang Court" and "Mongolian Chopsticks"

Asked how the Chinese New Year Splendor compares to other shows that Roger has seen, he said:

"In the three years that I've worked here I've seen a lot of shows—Broadway shows and concerts, but this show is really special. There is nothing that I've seen here that I can compare it with, it's just truly wonderful."

Roger added, "I'm definitely looking forward to seeing this outstanding show back here next year!"

The Chinese New Year Splendor continues in New York through Saturday, Feb. 9. For other shows in the Divine Performing Arts world tour, please visit: www.DivinePerformingArts.org .
