LONDON—Abu Chandarana, an accountant, said he had a "thoroughly enjoyable evening" at the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular on Sunday evening at the Royal Festival Hall in London.
Originally from India and now living in Hillingdon, Chandarana said, "In a word: spectacular—absolutely superb! The costumes and the elegance of the performers was just outstanding."
He said the hosts "did a brilliant job of explaining everything, which was good for non-Chinese people like us.
"We got tickets at the last minute and had to sit right at the back, but it didn't matter – it was even better at the back! The variety of the programme was great; the timing of each piece was just right; it was captivating throughout."
The New York-based Divine Performing Arts are recreating the ancient culture of China, which was based on Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism.
Mr. Chandarana saw a link between the traditional Chinese culture and his own Indian culture.
"There's lots in common between Indian and Chinese culture. Certain mannerisms of the dancers are very similar to classical Indian dancers. And of course Buddhism originated in India," he added.
