LONDON—Harriet Brown, a lawyer from Notting Hill who works in central London, came to the Saturday evening performance of the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular, currently playing at London's Royal Festival Hall.
"It was very spectacular," she said. "It was a lot more dance-based than I expected, but it was cool."
Brown was particularly taken with the Mongolian Bowl Dance.
"I wasn't sure if they had the bowls stuck on top of their heads, or if they were really balancing them. Were they really balancing them?
"If they were really balancing them, then it was very impressive. When they had them on their foreheads, then they were definitely balancing them and that was pretty impressive."
She found the classical Chinese dancing similar to ballet. She especially enjoyed a dance called Water Sleeves. "They were just so beautiful and flowing."
Of the performances that told a story, Brown's favourite was the Lady of the Moon. She said she wished she knew more about the legend behind the story.
"I don't understand why the man had to stay behind!"
