LONDON—Will Sice, aged 7, brought his mum, dad and little sister Charlie to see the Chinese Spectacular at the Royal Festival Hall in London on Saturday afternoon.

"Very good. Very good", said Will's mother Katharine, a graphic designer from Hammersmith in London. "I think it's something that my son particularly will enjoy", explaining that Will has an interest in Tibetan gods and other things Chinese.

"He's seven and he's been into it since he was five. So we've been to lots of extraordinary things with Will!"

Katherine explained how the family had decided to come see the Chinese Spectacular.

"We were flicking through Time Out and there was an advert: Chinese Spectacular. You couldn't miss it. I just thought he'd love it and it would be a good family afternoon."

"I loved the beginning, the dry ice and the fairy and [Charlie] went, 'Aah', which was really cute", Katherine said. "And the colour and sparkle -- absolutely wonderful".

"Absorbing different cultures and colours, and all kinds of things [is] always good. I like to do that for [Will] as well".

Other favourites included the painted backdrops projected on an enormous screen throughout the show. "I loved those. They were beautiful, weren't they? So nicely painted and brightly coloured", said Katherine.

"It's lovely to open your mind to lots of things. The more you put in the more you can put out as a designer. So just seeing colours and shapes and all kinds of things takes you to a different place".

"London's very black and white, and grey, especially at this time of year. It's lovely to see something so bright and different and refreshing. Really nice".

Will, however, is a plain speaking young man who knows his own mind. When asked about his favourite part he said simply, "I liked all of it".
