NEW YORK—"It's extremely enjoyable," said Annette Kaminsky, a real estate broker from Long Island, "I'm glad we came." She was referring to the Chinese New Year Splendor, now playing at New York's Radio City Music Hall.
Annette Kaminsky attended the Feb. 1 showing of the Chinese New Year Splendor with her husband, Seth Kaminsky, a retired lawyer. They Kaminskys said they were interested in coming to see the show as they plan to visit China in April.
Friday night's show was among 15 that will be shown between Jan. 30 and Feb. 9 at Radio City. The show will then move on to Europe, Japan, and Taiwan, as part of a world tour of more than 60 cities.
Annette Kaminsky said that she and Seth had experienced a few Chinese shows, although not all were on the same level. "This is very different, this is very professional," said Seth. "[This show has] very good costuming, and very bright colors."
Performed by both the Divine Performing Arts of New York and Divine Performing Arts on Tour companies and accompanied by a live orchestra, the Chinese New Year Splendor sets out to portray the essence of China's 5,000 years of culture through an array of traditional ethnic dances, songs, music, and stories told through classical Chinese dance.
"We'll come back," Annette Kaminsky said. "This is very enjoyable. It's beautiful."
The Chinese New Year Splendor continues in New York through Saturday, Feb. 9. For other shows in the Divine Performing Arts world tour, please visit: http://www.divineperformingarts.com/
