While stories of the effects of the Three Gorges Dam may seem shocking, documentary filmmaker Yung Chung brings us ever closer with his new film Up the Yangzte.
The film documents the life of a mainland Chinese family who live along the Yangzte riverside. The story revolves around the daughter Yu Shui who leaves home to work on a river boat, her family who are supported by Yu Shui, and a well to do young man Chen Bo Yu who contrasts the humility of Yu Shui on the cruise ship.
