GERMANY—"The show was very colorful and active," said Angelika Romig-Saul, City Councilor for Culture and Tourism from Breuberg in the Odenwald (Forest of Odes).

"It is very beautiful, every program conceals a story. It is very in-depth. One just has to take it in. It is difficult to put it in words."

Romig-Saul was commenting on the Shen Yun Chinese Spectacular , currently playing at Frankfurt's Century Hall (Jahrhunderthalle) in Germany.

Romig-Saul adds that the story, Lady of the Moon, remains vivid in her memory. This piece is inspired by one of China's best known legends. Chang E and her husband are awarded the elixir of immortality for leading a charitable life.

"I don't know the story but I find it beautiful. In the end she ascends to heaven, totally detached from all worldly things, leaving quite positively and cheerfully." "Also remarkable is the choreography of the dances. At least 30 people on stage and every movement is perfect, simply fantastic."

Only a few days earlier, Romig-Saul attended another cultural show, Rhythm of the Dance, also a well known production. Comparatively, this show resembles the Shen Yun show in that both consist of a mixture of musical pieces and cultural dances.

"Rhythm of the Dance tells the story of the Irish people," said Romig-Saul. "I have to say that the Shen Yun show is three times better than Rhythm of the Dance. However, I don't want to say that Rhythm of the Dance is not good."

Heidi Tschorn, an architect who came to the show with Romig-Saul, said she especially enjoyed the drumming numbers, particularly the last one.

"The drums transform the body into vibrations." Tschorn said that although she doesn't have much knowledge of Chinese culture, the Spectacular sparked her interest.

Performed by Divine Performing Arts on Tour, the Shen Yun Chinese Spectacular will play three shows in Frankfurt before continuing on to Berlin and Hamburg. For other shows in the Divine Performing Arts world tour, please visit: www.shenyun.eu
