NEW YORK-The Chinese New Year Splendor, which opened at Radio City Music Hall Wednesday night, drew a standing ovation from an enthusiastic audience.

"I thought it was beautiful. I thought it was very colorful, shared the culture of China, and very informative. The photography in the background was very beautiful. It was a very enjoyable night," said realtor Franklin Lakes.

"I thought it was wonderful. Very different; something that we don't get a change to see very often," added Lakes. "I loved it all."

The Splendor is put on by Divine Performing Arts, which has been spearheading a renaissance of Chinese traditional culture which has drawn the attention and admiration of audiences around the world.

"I loved the show, very colorful," said Marco from Ecuador. "The ladies dancing — that was my favorite part."

Mike Robinson said, "I love the atmosphere, it is gorgeous. I loved it! My favorite part was the drums."

"Wonderful, splendid, fantastic!" said Yolanda a dietician from New Jersey.

Catherine Shahinian, who attended the show with her husband, said her Chinese friend had seen the show and told her about it. She said she particularly liked the erhu performance.

"I loved that performance by the two stringed instrument, it was great, really moving," she said. "The water dance was beautiful and the one with the cherry blossom, like the water lily, phenomenal. The drums were also excellent."

Dr. Raul Almanzar, his wife Annie, and their children Miranda and Gabriella came to see the performance with their friends.

Gabriella, 8, said she liked all of the acts, especially the drums. She learned something about Chinese culture, too, "about the way they write."

Annie's favorite was the water dance. "The dance movements were very graceful, very colorful."

Khaim Lagurus, who works with WKCR Columbia University Radio, said he was impressed by how much work went into Splendor.

"You could just see how much work and practice and planning, just so much went into it, from the costumes to the choreography, to the music. It was an extremely impressive performance from all angles."

"I really liked how the colors of the background match the colors with the costumes, I thought that was very beautifully done, and with every aspect of the show you could see that there was really an art going into it, really passion.

The Chinese New Year Slendor continues in New York through Saturday, Feb. 9. For other shows in the Divine Performing Arts world tour, please visit: http://www.divineperformingarts.com The Epoch Times is a proud sponsor of the Chinese New Year Spectacular.
