SAN FRANCISCO—Anita Vermeulen and her 10-year-old daughter Pauline attended the Chinese Spectacular on its last day at the Orpheum Theatre Saturday afternoon, Jan. 26. They had heard about the show through a flyer last month, and said they were very happy that they came.
Anita especially liked the costumes and the dancing, "I think they were just great!"
Anita and Pauline both liked the two powerful drum acts in the show, Victory Drums and Drummers of the Tang Court.
Anita said, "They are so vivid, so physically impressive, and they can do amazing and difficult movements with their bodies and they make them look like it is nothing."
Pauline is interested in Chinese culture and studies mandarin at school. Although she was not able to understand all the Chinese words sung or spoken, Anita said she could enjoy them through the power of the singer's voices.
The Spectacular is unique among Chinese cultural shows performed throughout the world today. According to Divine Performing Arts, the dances convey the rich culture of China's 5,000 years history through a variety of performances including classical Chinese dance, singing, musical performances, and dramatic interpretations.
The last opportunity to see the show in San Francisco was at tonight's 8:00 p.m. performance.
Starting on Jan. 30, the NTDTV Chinese New Year Splendor will play for 15 shows at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.
