SAN FRANCISCO—This is the second night of the Chinese New Year Spectacular performance in the famous Orpheum Theatre of San Francisco.
The Orpheum Theatre, which was built in 1926 as a showcase for theatre magnate Alexander Pantages, is stunning with a rich-toned tapestry and full-bodied lions ringing the ceiling. Mythical figures from Spanish folklore surround you when you move down the aisle. An ornate sun with twinkling stars gently illuminates seats from above.
The special atmosphere of the theatre helps you to tune in to the ancient times serving a perfect bridge to the performance playing now on its stage.
"There are so many things I liked about this performance," said Joan Kuczma, a nurse from San Mateo, CA. "The first one is choreography, which is amazing, unbelievable, magnificent. The whole thing was very pure, inspiring."
Kuczma continued: "A clear message of the importance of being a good person, importance of spirituality is of a great significance nowadays."
"The best part of it is a lack of sexual garbage," she concluded.
Ruth and Jack Maiman, originally from New York, live in San Mateo, CA now. Jack worked in the theater business on Broadway for a long time. He enjoyed the show thoroughly.
Ruth was amazed by the "brilliant choreography," and when asked what piece she liked the most, she exclaimed: "When you have many children and someone is asking who is your favorite, what do you say? I love them all! So I loved all of them!"
Lily Preiner from Hillsboro said that the show was "so heartwarming, it was a feast for the heart."
