SAN FRANCISCO—Many parents in the Bay Area are looking to introduce their children to new cultures and languages in order to give them an edge in today's global society. Two mothers did just that today by bringing their young ones to the Chinese New Year Spectacular at the Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco.

The Spectacular is currently on a worldwide tour visiting more than 65 cities. The show aims to carry on the true spirit of 5,000 years of ancient Chinese traditional culture, and to promote the essence of the classical arts. It continues for seven shows in San Francisco, playing until Saturday, Jan. 23.

Natalie Gosch, a homemaker, brought her kids to enjoy the performance. Even her four-year-old had a good time.

Her friend Karen Kasbin, who is a business owner and dental hygienist, took her daughter as well. Kasbin's daughter is home-schooled and is currently starting to learn about Chinese culture. The Spectacular was a great opportunity to expand her exposure to this ancient and deep tradition. Kasbin's daughter is even learning Chinese calligraphy as part of her unique education.

Kasbin was especially struck by the grandeur of the production stating: "The amount of performers is amazing. You don't see that in shows very often. Beautiful costumes!"
