The Divine Performing Arts Company exhibited its Chinese New Year Spectacular at the Hilton Theater to a captivated Las Vegas audience to close out the long weekend on Monday evening.

"We were really impressed with the message of the program, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. It's something really lacking in today's society and it's needed to turn the world around," said Rob and Caryn, a Las Vegas couple who were led to the show because their son was involved in stage setup.

"The entire program is very timely and important for the world, it's a wonderful program."

The Spectacular, featuring traditional Chinese music and dance, is now in its third year touring internationally and will complete over 200 performances across over 60 cities worldwide.

Joe Erlvar, a proprietor for his import company, has travelled extensively in Asia and the Middle East on business, and recently returned from Thailand. He said he felt impressed by the precision and discipline of the dancers, as well as the overall polish and professionalism of the show.

"The costumes were colorful and very striking. The drummers were powerful and a very strong addition to the program," said Erlvar.

The Spectacular, drawing upon 5000 years of Chinese history, even brought in viewers from out of town.

A young man from Salt Lake City named Chris travelled to Las Vegas to see the show on a friend's recommendation. He commented that before seeing the show he wasn't familiar with Chinese history and was really impressed by the way the program portrayed it.

Chris went on to say that the uniqueness of the dances and the way they expressed their movements was different from anything he had seen before. He also described the drummers as having "power."

Divine Performing Arts' next stop is San Francisco to begin a seven-show run beginning on Jan. 23.
