January 16 marks the second day of Chinese New Year Spectacular's arrival in San Diego, showing at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido. After having awed audience members through an array of colorful costumes and a kaleidoscope of performances during the 2 p.m. show, the Spectacular will grace the stage yet again tonight, with the final performance on January 17 at 8 p.m., before continuing to the show's next stop in Los Angeles.
"I loved it. I loved everything about it," said audience member Ann Koch of San Diego. "The colors were outstanding. They were just absolutely brilliant, and the dances were out of this world." Ann said that she prides herself on being both a housewife and a grandmother, and came to see the afternoon show with her family. Granddaughter Sophia Koch, a student at Monte Vista High School, and her mother, said that they both enjoyed the highly energetic Tang Dynasty drum dance entitled, "Drummers of the Tang Court." "I liked the way the drums rolled in sync together. The whole thing just made me feel so alive," said Ann.
While the performers prepared for the next show at 8 p.m., audience members left the theater hall with a joyous feeling. "I would recommend it to anybody," said Ann Koch, "It was very uplifting. It opens your eyes to what's going on around us. You really have to come see it for yourself."
