Following the successful finale of the International Chinese Classical Dance Competition in July, New Tang Dynasty TV (NTDTV) has made plans to host a Chinese Global Competition Series focusing on the themes of art, music and life.
Including the Global Chinese Singing Competition in October, these competitions are still to come:
- World Martial Arts Competition
- World Chinese Violin Competition
- World Chinese Piano Competition
- World Traditional Chinese Costume Design Competition
- World Chinese Cuisine Competition: Szechuan Cuisine, Northern China Cuisine, Cantonese Cuisine, Shandong Cuisine and Huaiyang Cuisine
- World Traditional Chinese Costume Design Competition
- World Chinese Realistic Oil Painting
- World Chinese Photography Competition
Mr. Li Zhong, President of NTDTV, said that the singing competition, along with the following competition series are the continuation of NTDTV's Chinese New Year Spectacular and Classic Dance Competition.
"Our mission is to present—through art—the true, benevolent and beautiful inner meaning of China's 5,000-year culture, helping to facilitate the cultural exchange between the East and West," said Mr. Li.
Besides martial arts, traditional Chinese costume and the Chinese cuisine, Mr. Li said the competition series will also include western arts and culture such as piano, violin, photography and realism oil painting. These too are the essence of the culture of humankind, and also have had a profound influence on Chinese society.
"While promoting traditions and cultures, the competitions also show NTDTV's commitment to educate and entertain the community. Chinese people all around the world will benefit physically and spiritually from these competitions," said Mr Li.
The 2007 Chinese New Year Spectacular and 2007 International Chinese Classical Dance Competition have already started to make its impact in western societies.
The first New Year performance organized by NTDTV started in New York in 2004. Since then, the number of performances have doubled every year. In 2007, the show toured over 30 countries and was experienced by more than 200,000 people. The dance competition in July also received a vibrant response from around the world.
Audience feedback signaled that the performances, in their expression of rich Chinese traditional culture, were very refreshing and inspiring.
NTDTV has received awards and praise from many different social groups, governments, media, business, cultural and art circles.
Several Chinese people, in audience interviews following the Chinese Classical Dance event, said that the discipline is a treasure passed down from their ancestors, and that contemporary people have a responsibility to keep it alive. The beauty of Chinese classical dance belongs to the people of the world, they said.
NTDTV will announce more detailed plans for the upcoming competitions in the near future.
