A group of concerned citizens, including Falun Gong practitioners, visited the Russian Consulate in San Francisco last Friday, May 18, appealing to Russian authorities to stop the forceful illegal deportation of Falun Gong practitioners back to communist China.

The group pointed out that Russia has been violating the 1951 United Nations Convention relating to the Status of Refugees, which Russia has ratified.

Before the peaceful protest, Falun Gong practitioners met with a vice-consul and brought his attention to two unprecedented events—the unlawful abductions and immediate deportation from Russia to China of Ms. Hui Ma with her 8-year-old daughter, as well as the deportation of Prof. Gao Chunman, a 73-year-old former professor of China's Tsinghua University, disabled after a stroke.

St. Petersburg residents, they were registered as "persons in need of international protection" by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

The vice-consul's initial reaction was to claim that the deported practitioners were illegal immigrants. According to the protestors, this attitude demonstrates the extent to which the Russians have been influenced by the Chinese communist party's propaganda.

Members of the appealing group were able to explain the facts of the situation more thoroughly and thus the vice-consul became more concerned, especially after finding out about the massive organ harvesting from live Falun Gong practitioners taking place in China.

After silently protesting for an hour, the Russian chief consul came out of the Consulate on the request of the participants. The group informed him about the atrocities taking place in China and he accepted a copy of a much-publicized investigative report by two prominent Canadian human rights lawyers. The report confirms that the Chinese communist regime is conducting large-scale organ harvesting from unwilling Falun Gong prisoners of conscience.

Winnipeg-based David Matas and former Canadian Secretary of State for Asia-Pacific David Kilgour have traveled to over 30 countries to raise awareness about their report, which is published online at www.OrganHarvestInvestigation.net .
