Ukraine President Says No Debts Owed to Gazprom

KIEV—President Viktor Yushchenko said on Wednesday neither Ukraine nor the state-owned gas company Naftogaz had any debts to Gazprom, Interfax Ukraine news agency reported from Berlin.

"Neither the Ukrainian state nor Naftogaz has debts to Gazprom," Yushchenko was quoted as telling reporters in the German capital.

Gazprom on Tuesday threatened to reduce supplies to Ukraine if it did not agree to the repayment terms of $1.3 billion in arrears.
