WASHINGTON DC—On the afternoon of September 9, over 30 Chinese and Taiwanese Americans held a "Self-Help and Care, Calling for Peace" forum at American University. They finally shed years of oppression and pain caused by the brutality of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) through sharing their stories. Medical experts that were present stated that mental stress and pain can directly impact one's physical well-being, and that one's health will improve with the release of resentment.

Proposal for Holding "Self-Help and Care, Calling for Peace" Activities in China

U.S. medical expert Dr. Hu Zongyi affirmed that, "Constant stress can cause instability within one's family and society. The steady build up of pain and grief can cause many psychological and physical problems." Dr. Hu also stated that, "If the Chinese people would only openly voice their dissatisfaction, it would greatly improve their psychological well-being. On the other hand, it will also speed up the disintegration of the spy system and the totalitarian regime. When all Chinese citizens share their opinions openly, the communists' spies will disappear, and citizens would no longer have anything or anyone to fear."

Dr. Hu said that, "Under the CCP's rule, almost every single family has been persecuted, and over half of the population's minds are weighed down by the experience of persecution. I suggest that 'Self-Help and Care, Calling for Peace' activities should be held in China. Demonstrating their opinions on a global level is the best way for the Chinese to regain their dignity and health."

Understanding CCP Withdrawals

Epoch Times Editor-in-Chief Ms. Guo Jun expressed at the forum that behind each 13 million persons who have withdrawn from the CCP on the CCP resignation web are stories of pain and sacrifice. 13 million is but a number, yet it contains so many irreducibly true stories. Activities such as the "Self-Help and Care, Calling for Peace" forums today are very special because people can voice their discontent with the CCP as part of the process of overcoming their fear. The phrase "calling for peace" is very broad; "peace" could mean a secure feeling after leaving the CCP, but it could also mean the sense of peace after releasing stifled emotions.

Ms. Guo explained her sorrow for those who do not understand the ideal of quitting the CCP and the meaning behind the number of people who have quitted. She said, "The concerns of the people will always be real, and evidence does not need to be presented for beseeching the heavens and receiving consolation." Guo suggested that people to read the resignation statements on Epoch Times Tuidang (CCP Resignation) website in order to understand the stories behind the withdrawals.

"Three Generations of My Family Were Murdered"

71-year-old Li Yuzhen shared in conversation that five generations of her family suffered persecution under the CCP's rule and became the sacrificial lambs of the Party.

Ms. Li narrated the course of her grandfather being poisoned to death by the CCP's senior statesman He Long. He Long was born in the same year as her grandfather, and they were like brothers. Li's grandfather risked his life and took in He Long when He was seeking refuge and no one would take him in. At that time, her grandfather owned a cattle business, so he gave his best horse to He Long and provided him with food and clothing. Later, He Long tricked her grandfather into attending a Chinese opera performance and poisoned his tea. He was only 33 years old when he died. Her grandfather was the only one who knew about He's life experience and whereabouts. He Long feared his past being known and murdered him. Her grandfather's kindness was repaid with enmity. His death happened so suddenly that the pure shock of the news caused three others in her family to die within three months.

Military Officer Forced to be a Nanny

65-year-old Ms. Li, a colonel level military officer told her experience of being forcibly taken to brainwashing class because she practiced Falun Gong and adhered to the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Tolerance. She was forced to give up Falun Gong. Later Li came to the United States under the premise of visiting her relatives and sought asylum.

Ms. Li said in grief that for the past few years, she had to suffer without any place to live. In order to pay for rent, Ms. Li now works as a nanny.

When the atrocities of the CCP's harvesting organs from live Falun Gong practitioners was exposed, Ms. Li quit her job and spent time passing out flyers and raising awareness of the issue, hoping to acquire help from kindred spirits. Ms. Li said, "Simply put yourself in my position; if that happened to your relatives, how could you not stand up to stop it?"

Mother Painfully Abandons Daughter During The Great Famine

President of Human Health Care Association Dr. Pang Yubin said that during "The Great Famine," the CCP not only didn't give people food, but also stole their food. At that time, Dr. Pang's sister and brother both needed milk, but there was only one bottle of milk per day for the family. His mother had to make the choice of giving the milk to his brother. Otherwise, neither of the two children's lives would be saved. His mother had to helplessly watched her daughter starve to death.

Three Surgeons' Experience During the Great Cultural Revolution

Dr. Pang Yubing shared stories of his father and two other surgeons' experience during China's Great Cultural Revolution. Dr. Pang said that his father was a very kind and famous surgeon. If there were no skin for performing skin transplants on patients, his father would cut skin from his inner leg for the procedure; if there were no blood for transfusion, he would use his own blood. During the Cultural Revolution, his father was labeled as anti-revolutionist and accused of homicide. According to the CCP, of the thousands of patients cured, any patient who died was considered killed by his father.

Dr. Pang Yubing said that fortunately, because of internal disagreement between two gangs in the CCP, his father was sentenced to 15 years of imprisonment instead of something worse. However, of the two other surgeons, one's hand was cut off, and the other was executed by shooting.
