This year the British International Motor Show returns to London after more than a 30 year absence. A reduction of appearances from some manufacturers to the Birmingham event was a factor in the return to London. The docklands ExCel venue is its new gigantic home. Polls held at the show have indicated that the visitor response has been positive.
A celebration of magnificent cars are on display at the show, including the unveiling of 13 world premieres and 20 UK launches.

This year there is an increase in diverse fuel systems being incorporated into the cars that manufacturers are building and introducing to the public; including new bioethanol fuel cars, hybrid electrics, full electrics as well as the usual super charged petrol guzzlers.
The boundaries of technology have been expanded by the company PML, with the introduction of the awesome Mini QED project, powered only by a battery and a bank of super capacitors.

As this electric Mini has been predicted to out accelerate a Porsche 911 Carrera and have a top speed of nearly 150 mph, we may be looking at the future of Supercharged electric cars. PML has recently patented this new technology and are tight lipped about the details of how it all works.

They are quite certain that it will strip away the misconceptions about hybrid/electric cars thus introducing the electric supercar concept. Martin Boughtwood, PML's MD said about the project "Our objective has been to set out to prove that you can have an exciting environmentally friendly electric vehicle."
Currently the car building costs are the main hurdle to overcome, as it stands at a whopping £200,000 due to the small number of cars being built. If manufacturers become interested then this should bring down the costs by a huge amount.
