On the afternoon of August 19, numerous human rights lawyers, China experts, and foreign democracy activists, amongst others, gathered at Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., appealing for the immediate release of human rights attorney Gao Zhisheng, who was arrested by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) authorities on August 15. They were also there to support the former China Eastern Airlines captain, Yuan Sheng, who sought asylum in the United States after he ran into trouble on August 8 when he was reported at Shanghai Airport for encouraging others to quit the CCP. Yuan Sheng joined the D.C. rally.
Yuan Sheng Claims That the CCP is Blocking News on the Wave of Withdrawals from the CCP
Former China Eastern Airlines captain Yuan Sheng, who was threatened by Chinese police at the Shanghai airport for spreading the Nine Commentaries and encouraging people to quit the CCP and all its affiliated organizations, said at the rally, "The CCP has always been carefully blocking news about the Nine Commentaries and withdrawing from the CCP. It appears to be calm on the surface, but the CCP is exerting tight control internally. I was threatened by CCP police for spreading the Nine Commentaries and encouraging people to quit from the CCP at Shanghai airport."
Yuan said, "This is a big shock to the CCP. The CCP knows that it can no longer cover this up. The CCP has been vigorously covering up the incident at the airport. They are plotting carefully the best means to cover up the facts."

Yuan indicated that the CCP had seen that he had accepted many Western media's interviews in the past few days. Western societies are very concerned about this incident. Therefore, the CCP will no doubt take some action to divert the unwanted attention.
Morton Sklar, human rights lawyer and executive director of the World Organization Against Torture and the World Organization for Human Rights; Wang Jun, Chairman of the China Democracy Party World Union; Huang Ciping, director of the Wei Jingsheng Foundation and secretary general for the Overseas Chinese Democracy Coalition; and others at the rally strongly condemned the CCP's brutality.
The CCP Revealed Its Real Fear
Epoch Times columnist Zhang Tianliang analyzed the reason why the CCP dared to arrest Gao Zhisheng despite knowing that the political consequences of the arrest will be extremely serious.
Zhang said, "The bigger context is that over 12 million people have quit from the CCP and all its affiliated organizations, there has been exposure of the live organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners, and in particular, there was the recent incident of China Eastern Airlines captain Yuan Sheng seeking asylum in the U.S. after being threatened by the CCP's police for spreading the Nine Commentaries and encouraging people to quit the CCP. This incident further verified to the entire world the waves of withdrawals from the CCP. The CCP is extremely terrified, and therefore adopted this tactic. The CCP is hard pressed to seize on any solution."

Gao Zhisheng Promoted the "Nine Commentaries" and Quitting the CCP
During the gathering, a representative of the Washington D.C. Service Center for Quitting CCP read attorney Gao's statement to withdraw from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) published on the website of The Epoch Times (www.epochtimes.com).
Attorney Gao wrote in his statement: "Tens of days are over! And I have completely lost any hope for the CCP…Gao Zhisheng, a party member who for many years had stopped paying the membership fee and has been absent from party activities, has declared his withdrawal from the cruel, untrustworthy, inhumane evil party."
On December 14, 2005, the second day after attorney Gao published his withdrawal statement, he published another article titled "This Regime Never Stops Killing." He stated in the article, "At present we must get rid of our hope in the CCP. Each of us needs to be realistic …to peacefully end the life of this group of killers—we need to quit the CCP and get away from the disaster it has brought to the Chinese people!"
Heaven will Eliminate the CCP, Quit the CCP to Save Oneself
Dr. Huang Zuwei, representative of the Washington D.C. Service Center for Quitting the CCP said, "In mainland China, the CCP is extremely fearful of the wide spread of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party. It recently has blocked the hotline telephone of the Global Service Center of Quitting CCP and internet sites that have broken through the CCP's internet blockade, such as the www.dongtaiwang.com and www.wujie.com [these have all been recovered]. The CCP has also been kidnapping, detaining, and illegally sentencing people who are involved in spreading the Nine Commentaries and promoting party withdrawals."
Huang continued, "Since the crime of the live organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners was exposed in March, people see more clearly the evil nature of the CCP. It is more vicious than demons. Therefore the saying: "Heaven will Eliminate the CCP, Quit the CCP to Save oneself" is very serious. It is a righteous calling."
The Collapse of the CCP is Coming Soon
Huang Zuwei said, "Even high-ranking CCP officials are helping with promoting the Nine Commentaries and the withdrawal movement. Someone in the CCP central government even called the Service Center for more information.
Ms. Li, a former teacher in the Military Academy of China's Ministry of Defense, has worked for over 40 years for the Chinese military. She got a telephone call from China asking her to help 156 people quit the CCP, including all 50 people from one CCP branch.
According to one of Ms. Li's friends, when 52 retired military officials were asked to pay the party membership fees, they said: "If we are asked to pay the membership fee, we will all quit together." Ms. Li said, "these people are high-ranking officials. They have been influenced by the CCP for decades. Their attitude really shows that the CCP is about to collapse."
Huang said, "Recently, the Service Center asked the Southern California Internet Analysis Center to conduct an analysis of the 12 million people who quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations. The result shows that 60 percent of the 12 million—nearly seven million people—are CCP members. This means that in the past one and half years, ten percent of CCP members have quit the CCP, including high-ranking government and military officials. The end of the CCP is coming soon."
