Over five thousand Taiwanese Falun Gong practitioners participated in a hunger strike in Taizhong City to denounce the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)'s organ harvesting without consent to international media and governments. The event purpose is to raise awareness about the crimes committed by the CCP, to protect freedom of belief, and to urge the CCP to stop killing immediately.

The hunger strikers sat in mediation at the Taizhong Green Corridor and displayed many banners protesting the CCP's persecution. VIPs who attended the event include Dr. Zhang Qingxi, Secretary of the Taiwan Falun Dafa Association, Mr. Gu Jinnan, a judge from Taiwan's high court in Taizhong, Zeng Chaorong, a Taizhong City congressman, and Wang Jingya from Center for Nanoscience and Technology of the National Chaio Tung University (NCTU), representing young scholars and researchers.

The hunger strike began on the afternoon of July 29 with the reading of "Report into Allegations of Organ Harvesting of Falun Gong Practitioners in China," an independent report written by Honorable David Kilgour, J.D., former Secretary of State (Asia Pacific) of Canada, and Mr. David Matas, a prominent human rights lawyer. Following the announcement of support from various sources, the hunger strikers broadcasted a documentary of persecution and organ harvesting evidence. A short drama followed the video to express protest against the CCP. The hunger strike lasted until 9:30 p.m. on July 29, and concluded with a candlelight vigil and "a great wall of candles." Through this activity, Falun Gong practitioners hope to tell international governments, organizations, media and world's people to no longer tolerate CCP's atrocities.
