Dr Wang Wenyi's trial for speaking out at the White House was postponed to May 18. On May 7, Wang told a Epoch Times journalist she had received consent from her U.S. lawyer to invite renowned mainland Chinese attorneys Gao Zhisheng, Yang Zaixin and Zhang Jiankang to join her defense team.

Gao is Happy to Help Wang Fight for Justice

When Gao Zhisheng heard that Wang was being charged because of her action in front of the White House, he published an article announcing that this trial itself was unjust as far as Wang Wenyi is concerned.

"Even though I have trust in the nature of your country's legal system, each individual case will bring to bear its own underlying background. In the case of Dr. Wang Wenyi, what is the psychological background leading to the actions for which she is being charged? What is the background against which Wang Wenyi raised her wish that Mr. Bush ask to stop the persecution of Falun Gong?"

"In other words, what is happening in China, a country that is being violently controlled by the Communist Party? What is the nature of the atrocity that is happening in China that prompted Wang Wenyi to voice her urgent protest in that setting? What is the magnitude of the atrocity? How do we consider the relationship between the atrocity that is taking place in China and the social norms of human civilization? How do we balance the value of stopping this atrocity and the need to maintain order at the event?"

"If you do not consider these background factors that influenced or even determined Wang Wenyi's outburst, you will not be able to ensure a fair conclusion. If so, the value for legal justice in your country and the reputation of your legal system will suffer damage just as Dr. Wang Wenyi would were she to receive such a trial. Such damage should be avoided."

"Today, the world media and Chinese people are all admiring Dr. Wang Wenyi for the noble halo of humanity around her. The U.S. legal system should be independent of all irrelevant forces and powers, but it cannot be free from the common values of human civilization. The moment Dr. Wang Wenyi is convicted would be the moment when the history of the judiciary gives birth to a monster independent of the principles of human civilization."

Wang invited Gao to join her legal defense team because he has extensive understanding about the background on the persecution of Falun Gong in China and has displayed admirable courage and human integrity under immense pressure from the Chinese communist regime. She is quite pleased that Gao had readily accepted her invitation. She hopes he will come to the US to carry out preparations for her pending lawsuit and court hearing together with other lawyers.

Attorneys Yang Zaixin and Zhang Jiankang Support the Alliance

Wang also revealed that two other prominent Chinese human rights lawyers, Mr. Yang Zaixin and Mr. Zhang Jiankang, have stated interest in joining her defense counsel team. These respected lawyers have previously represented Falun Gong practitioners in China and consequently were persecuted by the communist regime.

During a telephone interview with The Epoch Times reporter, the two lawyers said that Wang did not commit any crime in carrying out a protest in a peaceful manner. On the contrary, she should be protected by the U.S. constitution. This is consistent with the principles and spirit of the founding of the United States. Everything she did in the face of tyranny should be supported by people worldwide, they feel. The U.S. government should stand up to pressure from different groups and withdraw all charges against Dr. Wang Wenyi.

Attorneys Yang Zaixin and Zhang Jiankang also elaborated further that if Wang was convicted, they would be willing go to jail in her place as a form of protest against the unjust conviction.

International Community Needs to Pay Attention

Wang said she was forced to shout out at the White House because after the large scale live organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners by the communist regime was exposed, she discovered that instead of restraining themselves, the regime intensified its organ harvesting operations, while international media remained silent on these inhuman acts. She hoped that her protest would cause the international community to pay attention to this matter and help stop this brutal genocide. Wang said she did not commit any crime in telling the truth, urging for a rescue and an end to the massacre.

"I did not expect the U.S. government to bring charges against me, because after I was taken away by the White House secret police who interrogated me and clearly understood that I did not pose a threat to anyone. I explained to them that as a doctor, when I learned about the communist regime harvesting organs from living Falun Gong practitioners, I felt deeply the I should let the international community and Hu Jintao know about this and stop this atrocity," Wang said. The two officers interrogating her at that time said she would be released very soon.

However, officers later told Wang that she was to be kept in custody for a longer period of time. She was ultimately in custody for over an hour.

Following the announcement of Wang's indictments, U.S. mainstream media and the public expressed their support and criticized the U.S. government for bringing charges against her.
