Gao Zhisheng: They Are All Frauds, on and off Stage

Western Politicians Who Applaud the Deceitful CCP Today Will Be Ashamed Tomorrow

Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress, recently spoke at the Greek parliament and lied throughout his speech without batting an eyelid. Mr. Yuan, a friend of mine, told me this news over the telephone and came to the usual conclusion: "Only the lies were real; the rest was fake."

It was reported that Wu Bangguo told the attending politicians that China's National People's Congress "could guarantee that the power of the nation was firmly held in people's hands, and China's constitutions and laws were carried out so well that every citizen's constitutional and legal rights could be protected." Allegedly, the parliament members in the audience applauded heartily during his speech. This reminded me of a common expression used by Chinese people to comment on such occasions: "All of them are frauds—on and off stage."

The greatest pleasure the leaders of the autocratic communist regime enjoy in their own territory is being frequently surrounded by applause. I don't know if someone has ever made a psychological study of it. But I think this phenomenon, common in autocratic nations, is surely related to the guilty conscience and the sense of unease and inferiority that these leaders feel. When faced with contempt from their own citizens, they are clearly aware of the illegitimacy of their power.

Nicolae Ceausescu, Romania's former communist tyrant, was considered an intimate comrade-in-arms by two generations of leaders in the Chinese Communist Party. He was interrupted more than 30 times by "enthusiastic" applause during his last speech (which only lasted 30 minutes). This incident consequently became an object of ridicule in civilized society. These sorts of absurd incidents are no more in Romania, but they have not died out in some parts of today's society. Such farces still continue to take place in nations such as China and North Korea.

An absolute "special honor" for the leaders of the communist regime in their territory is this: With no exception can they be called rascals and frauds by their own people. They are often given grand and pompous ceremonies and enthusiastic applause to make them feel good. Chinese people who are used to seeing this often say, "That's a game for frauds!" People are not deceived and clearly understand that those who make irresponsible remarks so passionately on stage are frauds, and that those who applaud vehemently off stage are their accomplices at all times. That is, they are all frauds.

Amongst leaders of autocratic regimes, the most "remarkable" frauds are those in the Chinese communist regime. People like Kim Jong II can only enjoy applause within the scope of their own territory. Any exceptions could only occur on the territory of his communist counterparts, indicating the limitations of his power to harm the larger human civilization.

However, the power wielded by the Chinese communist regime is different. Two weeks after Uzbekistan's head of state, Islam Karimov, carried out a massacre in Andijon last year, the communist regime immediately welcomed this slaughterer with a 21-gun salute in Beijing. The Chinese communist regime boycotted the United Nations' investigation of the genocide in Sudan. The whole world is opposed to Iran's developing nuclear weapons, but the communist regime not only opposed to punishing Iran, it also signed a US$100 billion contract with Iran. Last winter Hu Jintao gave Vietnam US$10 billion in free aid. Myanmar and all other autocratic regimes are on good terms with the Chinese communist regime.

From the above facts, it is not hard to reach a basic conclusion: Any regime that resists universal values is heartily supported by the Chinese communist regime. To put it simply, the Chinese communist regime is truly the evil center infusing power into all autocratic regimes, large and small, in the world.

North Korea and China are dictatorships that share the same inherent, evil nature of a communist regime. What they have in common is that they both use cunning lies and bloody violence to control their people and, if necessary, kill them without any hesitation. But these two immoral regimes receive vastly different treatments from the international community.

In reality, there should be no difference between the deceitful natures of these two regimes. The only visible difference here is the Chinese communist regime's sudden gain in wealth. Within China it uses bloody suppression to maintain the "continuous applause" at all costs. Outside China, it spends a huge sum of money to maintain its deception at all costs. Presently, the Chinese communist regime has time and again infused the utmost evil power into Western society, which represents today's universal civilized values.

Europeans are not strangers to the evilness and the violence of the communist regime. During the Cold War, Europe and the United States shared the same hatred for evil communist regimes, and their great determination to firmly resist touched Heaven and Earth. Europeans today still understand that there is no intrinsic difference between the communist regime in China and the one whose mention made people turn pale during the Cold War period.

What made Europe and the United States turn from ardently swearing to eradicate the communist devils during the Cold War to making friends with the same evil communist regime, rejoicing together and welcoming its leaders with a red carpet, fresh flowers and applause? Did the West become immoral? Or did the communist regime become moral? The West should know better. Just like a prostitute trading her so-called charms for money, the Chinese communist regime uses profit to bribe the morality and soul of Western society.

Did the Greek members of parliament not know that Wu Bangguo was one of those who refused to admit to the crime of the June 4, 1989 massacre, and that six months ago, he went to Guangzhou City as a representative of the Chinese communist regime to recognize the local official's efforts in slaughtering people in Guangdong Province? He is also one of those who continue to persecute Falun Gong, and he will use any methods of kidnapping and bloody inquisition by torture to keep the regime in power.

Does the international community know that while Wu Bangguo was giving his speech in Greece and while U.N. officials were visiting China, many Chinese citizens were still being illegally arrested and thrown into prisons while groups of spies were still surrounding my house to keep me detained?

Wu Bangguo is lying about the protection of human rights in China today. Like the other leaders in the Chinese communist regime, he is using the same tricks to deceive and cover up crimes against humanity and the genocide committed during the brutal persecution of Falun Gong for the past nearly seven years.

Those who continue to applaud frauds over a long period of time, knowing that they are frauds, are also frauds themselves, even if they are not actual partners. To those members of parliament who fervently applauded Wu Bangguo even while knowing that he is a liar: Your applause goes against the morals and conscience that you should have as human beings. The violent Chinese communist regime today has gained endless evil power from your immoral applause. Such resounding applause will be recorded by the state-run media and broadcast to the citizens of China. It will be used as evidence of the extent of the approval gained in Western civilized society and will encourage the Chinese communist regime to treat Chinese people more cruelly, ferociously, unscrupulously, and wantonly than before. This kind of applause becomes part of its evil power!

Stop committing evil! Western politicians who continue today to applaud those in the Chinese communist regime who have committed crimes against humanity, sooner or later, you will be ashamed of your applause.

Written at home in Beijing, on May 25, while surrounded by spies.
