On Tuesday, April 18, Falun Gong held an impromptu press conference at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. to announce the formation of a special team of international investigators, called the Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (CIPFG). Dr. John Jaw, Chairman of CIPFG, explained, "The process of organizing such teams is currently underway. Our overall plan is to go to every Chinese labor camp, jails, detention centers, and hospitals where Falun Gong practitioners have been detained."
The formation of this investigation team was prompted by the visit of a U.S. Embassy led team to the hospital in the Sujiatun district of Shenyang and finding no evidence of a concentration camp where thousands of Falun Gong practitioners may have been held and used as organ donors and then killed. The result was not surprising since the visit was conducted three weeks after it was first exposed by The Epoch Times on March 9. China's regime had "more than ample time, and warning, to sanitize and disguise the camp," according to Falun Dafa Information Center (FDIC).
"This issue is not about one camp. What is the fate of the Falun Gong practitioners shipped off to dozens of other, similar camps throughout China? Amidst the mounting evidence and in the face of such grave allegations, it is the responsibility of the international community to investigate," said FDIC Spokesperson Erping Zhang.
"If the Chinese regime is serious about investigating these matters," Zhang said, "it must open the doors of all concentration and forced labor camps throughout the country, and allow in any and all investigation teams… not at specified locations and specified times, but anywhere and anytime."
Nonetheless, it was unprecedented for the Chinese communist regime to allow such an inspection, and revealed how concerned they are about international scrutiny on this charge of organ harvesting of practitioners of Falun Gong.
An open letter to President Bush and read at the news conference, asks the U.S. president to demand Chinese leader Hu to allow the Coalition to enter China and guarantee its safety. Quoting from the letter: "The CIPFG, led by the Falun Dafa Association and Falun Gong's Minghui website, has over the past seven years built a sprawling communications network inside China unlike any other…If the evidence is there, CIPFG will know how to find it."
"We have very specific and extensive information on labor and concentration camps throughout China," said Coalition spokesperson Dr. Sherry Zhang in a FDIC press release. "We know where the atrocities are taking place, and in many cases we have detailed eyewitness accounts."
More Damaging Evidence
Dr. Zhiyuan Wang, co-founder of World Organization to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (WOIPFG), played back especially disturbing recordings of investigators, posing as being interested in acquiring an organ transplant, speaking to doctors and medical staffs in China. There were six conversations played back at the press conference. Here is the second one translated from the Chinese. The call is to a hospital in Shanghai on March 15, 2006. (R=Receptionist; I=Investigator; D=Doctor)
R: Hi Greetings.
I: Hi Greetings. Is this Shanghai Zhongshan Hospital?
R: Yes.
I: I want to inquire…
R: Please wait.
I: OK.
D: Hi Greetings.
I: Hi Greetings. Are you a doctor? Can you do surgery?
D: Yes…
I: So how long do I have to wait?
D: About a week, about a week it'd be okay.
I: Is there the kind of organs that come from Falun Gong? I heard that they're very good.
D: All of ours are those types.
I: I see. All of them are Falun Gong.
D:….Kidneys can be used within 24 hours, but we control it within 10 hours.
I: Do you get them from out of town? Or do you get them locally?
D: We have both.
I: I see. So you have both out of town and local.
D: Yes.
Dr. Wang concluded from his investigation, "..[M]any major hospitals including smaller hospitals are conducting organ removal from Falun Gong practitioners and killing them secretly. And we have confirmed this happens in hospitals in 22 provinces or directly governed cities in China. The medical professionals, doctors and staff members, some of them say openly that they're using organs from Falun Gong practitioners, and some even told us that all the organs they use there are this type…"
Annette Guo, Editor-in-Chief of the (Chinese) Epoch Times expanded on these conclusions: "Sujiatun is only the tip of the iceberg, it was utilized because after 2001 all the labor camps were overcrowded…There are also doctors who are in United States, Hong Kong, Taiwan who also knew [that the organs were from Falun Gong practitioners], but due to various reasons, mainly personal safety concerns, they aren't ready to speak to the public.
Time is Urgent as the Chinese Hurry to Slaughter Falun Gong Practitioners Before July 1
After the news broke out about Sujiatun on March 9th, Dr. Wang and his team discovered: "…a lot of hospitals told us that they have obtained internal secret notice that they should temporarily stop the organ transplants operations. When on March 27 the Chinese regime published a law regarding organ transplantation and announced that the effective time of the law would be July 1, a lot of hospitals resumed organ transplantation operations and are doing this in a very rushed way and they directly urged patients to go there and they promise they can start the operation right away… we found out …that right now currently in Beijing, hospitals in China are all rushing organ transplant operations and doing it overtime.
From the WOIPFG investigation, Dr Wang infers that the organ removal and killing of Falun Gong practitioners is part of a systematic genocide conducted by the Chinese regime. "We have the reason to believe that the Chinese regime is rushing to killing all the evidence. Therefore we call for the international community to pay attention to this issue and to adopt urgent solutions to stop this. And we have reason to believe that urgent large scale slaughter is going on in China."
A Bewildered Falun Gong Practitioner Finds Out Why She is Being Given Medical Exams
Yuzhi Wang was a successful businesswoman who suffered beatings and torture for nine months while imprisoned in China's notorious Wanjia Labour Camp for practicing Falun Gong. She tells the story that she was sent to no less than four hospitals in Harbin, not to get medical treatment, which she needed badly after months of torture, but to do various examinations, taking her blood, X-rays, and so on, and was puzzled by all this.
She overheard a conversation between the 610 office (the public security department that apprehends practitioners and detains them without trial) and a medical staffer. They were having an argument where the medical person was saying they couldn't "use" her, and the 610 official not liking the answer he was getting. But 610 office got the same answer at the other three hospitals in Harbin. The medical people believed that her organs were bad and that she would soon die.
Escaping from her captors, Ms. Wang recovered and fled abroad. When the revelation of organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners became public, she realized what the argument was all about. She was a lucky survivor of the organ harvesting carried on at the labor camp.
